    Use Cases & Benefits

    • Provides safe and ergonomic SIMD abstractions and intrinsics in Rust with minimal unsafe code.
    • Enables safer SIMD usage by encapsulating unsafe operations, reducing developer errors and improving code safety.
    • Use for implementing high-performance numeric computations requiring explicit SIMD vectorization in Rust.
    • Use for developing cross-platform Rust libraries that leverage SIMD without sacrificing memory safety.
    • Use for experimenting with SIMD optimizations in Rust projects while maintaining clear and maintainable code.

    From the README

Full details of how to use Fearless SIMD can be found in the core package's README. The optional #[simd] attribute is provided by the separately versioned fearless_simd_macros companion package; the core package does not depend on it.

This crate provides a way to use SIMD safely, both via intrinsics and safe abstractions, while containing remarkably little unsafe code itself. The blog post A plan for SIMD contains the high level motivations, goal, and summary for Fearless SIMD. The blog post Safe SIMD in Rust, even on the inside describes the design and how the safety is achieved.
