Use Cases & Benefits
- Manages git worktrees and tmux windows to enable seamless parallel development workflows with isolated environments.
- Integrates git worktrees and tmux to automate environment setup, context switching, and cleanup, reducing friction in multi-branch development.
- Use for developing multiple features or hotfixes simultaneously, each in its own isolated tmux window and git worktree.
- Use for running AI agents in parallel within dedicated tmux panes, enabling task delegation and prompt injection per worktree.
- Use for automating environment setup with custom pane layouts, post-create hooks, and file operations to streamline project-specific workflows.

From the README

🚀 Using Claude Code? Try the
/worktreecommand to delegate tasks from your conversation.Parallel workflows. Work on multiple features or hotfixes at the same time, each with its own AI agent. No stashing, no branch switching, no conflicts.
One window per task. A natural mental model. Each has its own terminal state, editor session, dev server, and AI agent. Context switching is switching tabs.
Automated setup. New worktrees start broken (no
.env, nonode_modules, no dev server). workmux can copy config files, symlink dependencies, and run install commands on creation. Configure once, reuse everywhere.One-command cleanup.
workmux mergehandles the full lifecycle: merge the branch, delete the worktree, close the tmux window, remove the local branch.
