    Use Cases & Benefits

    • Provides a cloud-native API gateway and ingress controller powered by Envoy for Kubernetes environments.
    • Combines advanced API management, AI gateway capabilities, and hybrid app migration in a single, flexible platform.
    • Use for managing and securing north-south traffic in Kubernetes clusters with robust ingress and edge routing.
    • Use for protecting and routing large language model (LLM) workloads and AI inference in cloud-native infrastructures.
    • Use for gradually migrating legacy applications to microservices or serverless architectures while maintaining unified traffic control.

    From the README

Kgateway is feature-rich, fast, and flexible. It excels in function-level routing, supports legacy apps, microservices and serverless, offers robust discovery capabilities, integrates seamlessly with open-source projects, and is designed to support hybrid applications with various technologies, architectures, protocols, and clouds.

The project was previously known as Gloo, and has been production-ready since 2019. Please see the migration plan for more information and the current status of the change from Gloo to kgateway.
